Casa De La Guerra

in Santa Barbara was originally built in 1818- 1828 and served as the home for the fifth comendante of the Presidio, Jose De La Guerra. His home would have been at the center of the social, cultural and economic scene in Santa Barbara at this time. In the mid 90’s The Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation undertook a painstaking refurbishment at the Casa, rebuilding it using the same adobe block method. I was commissioned by the curator of the Trust to build a 1/4” scale model of the Casa and its surrounding structures and how it might have appeared in the 1850’s.
